Gifts of Retirement Funds/IRAs

With your support, we can continue the legacy of open spaces, clean water, natural habitats, greener communities and other work that will improve the quality of life for generations to come.

Through a testamentary gift, donors can direct their retirement funds and IRAs in support of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. This designation allows the donor to save considerable tax consequences for their children or other retirement fund beneficiaries.

Special tax-free IRA gifts
For those aged 70½ or older, it is once again possible to make tax-favored charitable gifts from traditional and Roth IRA accounts.
On December 18, Congress passed legislation retroactively extending the charitable IRA rollover for 2015 and made this provision permanent for future years. A total of up to $100,000 can be transferred directly from traditional or Roth IRAs to one or more qualified charities such as the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy free from federal income tax each year. There may also be state income tax savings. Amounts given in this way count toward required IRA minimum withdrawal amounts for the year of the gift.
To make a qualified distribution to WPC, please instruct your IRA custodian to issue a check to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, tax ID #25-1053485, at the following address:
Western Pennsylvania Conservancy
800 Waterfront Drive
Pittsburgh, PA 15222
Please remind your custodian to note your name and address on the transmittal. A template that you can fill out and use to authorize an IRA rollover to WPC can be downloaded by clicking this link.

Donors should consult their tax advisor to determine if supporting WPC with a gift from their IRA is a good option. For more information, please contact us at 412-586-2336 or
