WPC’s Community Gardens and Greenspace Program implements a variety of strategies throughout the region, partnering with neighbors, funders and volunteers to ensure healthier environments.
The Conservancy works with more than 12,000 volunteers in 20 counties to plant 130 community flower gardens. As the managing partner of TreeVitalize Pittsburgh, WPC coordinated planting more than 25,000 trees. WPC beautifies downtown with planters, hanging baskets and other greening initiatives. WPC works with communities to identify and implement greening strategies of all types including green infrastructure to capture storm water. The Conservancy can provide Green Scans to help communities develop effective and sustainable greening strategies.
