New Video Features School Grounds Greening Project at Crescent Early Childhood Center

Children at Crescent Early Childhood CenterSince 2008, the Conservancy has helped to connect students with nature and improve learning environments at 58 Pittsburgh Public Schools through the School Grounds Greening project. The most recent of these projects was completed this fall at Crescent Early Childhood Center in the city’s Homewood neighborhood. Features in this new water-themed outdoor play area include native willow and crabapple trees, a boat-shaped climbing structure and swirling lily pad pavers.

This outdoor play space complements a child-sized bird nest and other features that WPC installed last year. Additional improvements since 2012 have included a front garden with sunflower beds for harvesting seeds and a storytelling spot, among others. You can learn more about WPC’s most recent project at Crescent Early Childhood Center by visiting our YouTube channel.
