More Land Along the GAP Trail Protected in Somerset County

329-acre new propertyNearly 330 acres in Somerset County were protected by the Conservancy yesterday. This forested property protects more than one mile of frontage along the Casselman River and includes a two-mile segment of the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) trail. Learn more about this property, which was added to WPC’s Casselman River Conservation Area.

WPC Property Designated into Old-Growth Forest Network

Tryon-Weber Woods dedicationLast month, a 40-acre stand of old-growth beech-maple forest in Crawford County was dedicated into the Old-Growth Forest Network. The forest is part of WPC’s Tryon-Weber Woods, an 84-acre forest that was acquired in 1976. The Old-Growth Forest Network preserves, protects and promotes the country's few remaining stands of old-growth forest. Learn more about Tryon-Weber Woods and last month’s dedication.

Butterjoint’s June 14 Donations and Libations to Benefit WPC

Butterjoint, restaurant in OaklandJoin us for a night out during Butterjoint’s Donations and Libations, when all cash tips and proceeds from food and drink specials will be donated to WPC’s engaging younger generations initiative. Butterjoint, a Pittsburgh restaurant, hosts this event monthly to support local nonprofits. Learn more about WPC’s efforts to introduce more people to nature and green our region. WPC to Hang 400 Flowers Baskets in Downtown Pittsburgh

Hanging baskets in downtown PittsburghOn June 2, the Conservancy will hang its summer display of 400 flower baskets in downtown Pittsburgh featuring red, white and blue petunias, verbenas and geraniums. And beginning June 13, keep your eyes open for one unique hanging basket for a chance to win prizes through September. Stay tuned for more details on this exciting contest!
