400 Trees Planted Through the Pittsburgh Redbud Project

Pittsburgh Redbud Project tree plantingLast month marked the launch of an exciting new initiative that will bring 1,200 flowering Eastern redbud and evergreen trees to Pittsburgh’s riverfronts: the Pittsburgh Redbud Project. The first phase of this project brought 400 new trees to the city’s riverfronts last month. And, we’re also giving away 1,500 redbud and evergreen saplings to the public. Learn more about the launch of the Pittsburgh Redbud Project, and how you can receive a free tree sapling on May 12.

Day of Giving on May 3

Day of GivingYou have the opportunity to make your donation to WPC go further by giving through the Pittsburgh Foundation’s Day of Giving on May 3. Any donation made to WPC through the Day of Giving will be matched dollar-for-dollar until the match is exceeded, thanks to several generous WPC members. Make your gift to WPC on May 3 by donating online through the Pittsburgh Foundation.

Garden Plantings Launch, Volunteers Needed

Groups of volunteers are needed to help plant gardens throughout the region this month. We’re also in need of stewards to help maintan several gardens. $30,000 Awarded Through Watershed Mini Grant Program

Mini Grant Program award ceremonyWPC and the Dominion Foundation awarded $30,000 to watershed groups in 15 counties as part of the Watershed Mini Grant Program during an award ceremony in Blairsville last month. Grant awards fund projects that help enhance water quality and outreach initiatives throughout the region. View a full list of grant recipients on our website.

Save the Date: Butterjoint’s Donations and Libations on June 14

ButterjointEnjoy cocktails and food as you mingle with WPC staff during one of Butterjoint’s Donations and Libations, when all cash tips and proceeds from food and drink specials will be donated to WPC. Butterjoint, a Pittsburgh restaurant, hosts this series monthly to support local nonprofits. Mark your calendar for June 14 from 4:30 p.m. to midnight and check out Butterjoint online.
