TreeVitalize Pittsburgh Seeks Volunteers

TreeVitalize Pittsburgh fall plantingsFall tree planting season has begun for TreeVitalize Pittsburgh and we need your help with plantings across the Pittsburgh area. Plantings run through Saturday, Nov. 22 and are held rain or shine. Managed by WPC, and with the help of volunteers, TreeVitalize Pittsburgh is planting more than 800 trees in about 24 communities and neighborhoods in and around Pittsburgh in October and November. WPC Natural Area Dedication Honors Donor’s Legacy

Conservancy members enjoyed an afternoon hike at the Helen B. Katz Natural Area in Crawford County during last month’s Fall Members’ Outing. Fallingwater Museum Store Hosts Book Signing on Nov. 13

Pope-Leighey House book coverFallingwater visitors and Wright enthusiasts are invited to join us for a book signing by author Steven Reiss on Nov. 13. Reiss will sign his new book, “Frank Lloyd Wright’s Pope-Leighey House,” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Fallingwater Museum Store. Designed and built for Loren and Charlotte Pope and later purchased by Marjorie and Robert Leighey, the Pope-Leighey House stands as an example of Wright’s Usonian homes. Visitors may purchase “Frank Lloyd Wright’s Pope-Leighey House” at the Museum Store.

End-of-Year Stewardship Workday and Potluck

Stewardship workdayJoin WPC stewardship staff for the last stewardship workday of the year at Bear Run Nature Reserve on Nov. 8. Staff and volunteers will begin the day with trail work at Bear Run, followed by a potluck lunch and informal meeting. Join us as we reflect on the 2014 season and talk about what’s to come.
