WPC Names Newest Board Member

Catherine Baxter Smith

The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy recently announced a new appointment to it's board of directorrs. We're happy to announce Catherine Baxter Smith will be adding her skills to our board. Members of the WPC board elected Smith during the Conservancy’s 2010 Annual Meeting.

“We’re pleased to have Catherine join the board of directors. Her commitment to our mission, and professional skills, coupled with her family’s conservation-minded actions make her a perfect addition to the leadership of our organization,” said Tom Saunders, president and CEO of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.

Smith is an attorney, currently of counsel at Caroselli, Beachler, McTiernan and Conboy of Pittsburgh. She is originally from the Pittsburgh area, and now lives in Westmoreland County. Catherine and her husband Tom have demonstrated their commitment to the work of the Conservancy by placing a conservation easement (a donated permanent deed restriction that limits future development on their property), and through their continued support of WPC’s land stewardship endowment, and their service on the Ligonier Advisory Committee.

Smith joins a now 33-member board that oversees the Conservancy’s finances, strategic plans and operations.
