Director, Human Resources

Fallingwater (Mill Run, PA) and Headquarters - Pittsburgh Office (Pittsburgh, PA)

The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy is seeking a Director of Human Resources who will be responsible for administration, management, planning and development of all human resource functions for the Conservancy, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the Conservancy’s mission.

As a member-based nonprofit organization, we work in cities and towns across Western Pennsylvania and rely on the help of thousands of members, partners and volunteers. Job Duties

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for human resource management for the Conservancy, including:

  • Employee relations
  • Compensation program and salary administration
  • Benefit and pension plan administration
  • Development and maintenance of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
  • Recruitment and onboarding of new employees
  • Performance management
  • Regulatory compliance including but not limited to EEO, OSHA, all federal, state and local employment laws and regulations
  • Organizational training and development initiatives

Requirements

Excellent organizational skills–must be able to demonstrate prior success at executing projects in a timely manner and in achieving results on schedule. Must be able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make presentations to the general public and peer audiences.
  • Excellent facilitation and coaching skills–must have the ability to work well inter- and intra-departmentally.
  • Strong planning skills–must be able to develop and implement tactical plans from established strategic goals.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Training/development background preferred.

  • Utilizing keyboarding and fine motor skills.
  • Bending, twisting, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • Sitting for periods in excess of 2 hours and working at a computer.

Preferred Qualifications

Eight (8) years of experience in public or private human resource management; OR

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, and five (5) years of HR generalist experience; OR
  • A master’s degree in human resource management or related personnel/human resource field; OR
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

This position's primary location(s): Fallingwater (Mill Run, PA) and Headquarters - Pittsburgh Office (Pittsburgh, PA)

Position Duration

This is a regular, full-time opportunity that includes a robust benefits package.

Additional Details

The position is based at Fallingwater in Mill Run, Pa. Travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. office will be required periodically.

Pay

$83,000-$95,000
