Award-Winning Barn at Fallingwater:
A Creative Location for Meetings and Special Events
The Barn at Fallingwater can now add another award to its growing list of design accolades. It was recently awarded the Commonwealth Design Award from 10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania, an alliance of organizations and individuals committed to enhancing the quality of life for all Pennsylvanians. The award is in recognition of design excellence that encompasses sound land-use principles. In the past year, the Barn was awarded both the Silver Medal and a Green Design Citation in the 2005 American Institute of Architects Design Pittsburgh Awards, and has been honored by design experts as a stunning example of adaptive reuse that answers to nature and technology with a fine balance. The American Institute of Architects Committee on the Environment (COTE) selected the Barn at Fallingwater as one of the top ten green projects from around the globe for 2005. The honor is based on the project’s success in addressing significant environmental challenges with a design that integrates architecture, technology, and natural systems.
With these latest design achievements, businesses and individuals are now learning about the unique opportunity to host an event at a location that is rich with culture and history. For corporate activities, the Barn at Fallingwater is versatile enough to accommodate meetings, planning sessions, dining and other activities. Full catering services are available onsite and the facility is equipped with comprehensive, integrated audio/visual technology including computer and high-speed Internet connectivity, LCD projector, stereo surround sound, DVD, VHS, SMART Board and other technology.
The Barn at Fallingwater has recently added yet another dimension to its business offerings. Special focus talks, presented by a member of Fallingwater’s leadership staff, are designed so that businesses can easily include the presentation during their business event. The talks cover a wide array of topics including design movements in green buildings and sustainable architecture, the history of Fallingwater, insights to Frank Lloyd Wright, and other subjects. The Barn is also host to several exhibitions a year that explore culture, art, history and design.
Both businesses and private individuals have discovered new ways to entertain guests and celebrate special events by including private tours of Fallingwater, wine and cheese receptions at Fallingwater, and dinners or other special activities at the Barn at Fallingwater. The Barn can also be rented for wedding receptions, family reunions, and other memorable occasions by those seeking a singularly unique location. For more information about renting the Barn at Fallingwater, please contact Edna King, Event Coordinator, at 724-329-1441 ext. 1019.

A lifelong interest in architecture leads Tom Hanks and friends (Ron Howard and Dennis Miller pictured with Fallingwater's Director Lynda Waggoner) to Fallingwater in late July of this year.
