What is a Watershed?

It’s a term the Conservancy throws around often and we all live in one: a watershed. But what exactly is a watershed?

In short, it’s an area of land where all the water on and under the surface drains to the same place. Usually, a watershed is composed of a drainage divide, headwater streams, a waterway and a confluence with a larger waterway.
