Consider WPC for Year-End Charitable Giving
For nearly 80 years, the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy has ensured that nature, in all of its magnificence, is readily accessible for hiking, fishing, canoeing, hunting — or just appreciating — across Western Pennsylvania. WPC brings nature to cities and towns through community gardens and greenspaces and presents Frank Lloyd Wright’s masterwork of organic architecture to more than 160,000 visitors each year. None of this would be possible without the generous support of our members and donors.

As you consider your year-end gifts, please consider supporting WPC’s continued work. You can make your gift by check, credit card or debit card — either via mail, over the phone, or on our secure website. To ensure that your year-end gift counts toward the 2011 tax year:
- • Your gift by check via postal mail must be postmarked no later than Dec. 31, 2011.
- • For a gift made via credit card, please mail authorization to WPC no later than Dec. 23 to ensure that staff can process it by Dec. 31. Postmarks are not valid for dating of gifts via credit card.
- • Call 412-586-2340 with your credit card information by 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30.
- • You can make your gift online via credit card anytime, until midnight on Dec. 31, at WaterLandLife.org.
Your gift of appreciated stock is also welcome, and may offer tax advantages. If you are at least 70 ½ years old, you can make a direct charitable gift to the Conservancy from your IRA assets without having to pay federal taxes on the withdrawal. This provision allows gifts of up to $100,000 in a single year. Such a gift will also qualify for your “required minimum distribution.” This special provision is in effect until Dec. 31, 2011. An IRA rollover gift to WPC may provide you with tax advantages. Your tax advisor can counsel you to ensure that a rollover gift would be appropriate for you.
