Family’s Challenge Grant Will Double Impact of Land Conservation Donations
One family is continuing its longstanding leadership role in helping the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy protect the region’s best natural places. To encourage others to join in supporting the Conservancy’s land conservation and stewardship efforts, they will match donations from individuals that are designated for land conservation work as part of the Our Shared Legacy Campaign.
Donors will have the opportunity to double the impact of their donations to land conservation, ongoing stewardship and the stewardship legal defense fund. This is because the family, through the Valleyview Foundation, will match their gifts dollar-for-dollar. The family has made up to $100,000 available to match qualifying gifts made throughout the remainder of the campaign.
“We admire the Conservancy for the breadth and depth of its activities. We are particularly impressed with the Conservancy’s responsible approach to fulfilling its mission. Its commitment to negotiation and reasoning, rather than confrontation, is very important to us,” said the family foundation’s president.
The family has supported the Conservancy since 1976 and, while they admire Fallingwater and WPC’s other work, they especially appreciate our commitment to conserve and steward the land. “We have offered the challenge grant in the hope and expectation that it will encourage others to increase their support for land conservation and stewardship,” he added.
As the Conservancy presses ahead toward our overall goals of ensuring that Western Pennsylvania’s special places are conserved to be enjoyed long into the future, we hope that you will continue to support these efforts. So far, the Our Shared Legacy campaign has raised more than $31 million toward its overall goal of $40 million.
