COMMUNITY GARDENS & GREENSPACE
Downtown Pittsburgh
Flower Planters
Initially provided as a gift to the City of Pittsburgh for its 250th birthday celebration in 2008, today more than 500 large planters accent main pedestrian corridors in downtown Pittsburgh all year long.
The Colcom Foundation proposed this “bouquet of flowers” and has continued its support for the downtown flower planters project and other beautification efforts in downtown Pittsburgh.
SPRING
SUMMER
AUTUMN
WINTER
Thanks to the foundation, seasonal flower displays line the streets of downtown Pittsburgh during the entire year. Daffodils and pansies usher in spring, combinations of mixed summer flowers bring color to key corridors in the summer, chrysanthemums brighten the streets when things turn brown in the fall and an assortment of evergreens remains vibrant in gray winter months.
