Volunteer to help carry in and assemble new bench; remove and haul out old bench materials at Bear Run Nature Reserve, WPC’s largest preserve.

For additional information and to register, please contact Andrew Zadnik, director of land stewardship, at azadnik@paconserve.org or 412-586-2318 (office).

Unless otherwise noted, we’ll meet at 9 am at the preserve and work until around 2.  Workdays are typically held rain or shine. If a workday is cancelled, a message will be sent immediately to the land steward email list (the website may not be updated for a day or so).

There is a paved parking lot, but otherwise, plan for a rustic day, rain or shine! (If the workday is canceled, a message will be sent immediately to the land steward email list.) Tools will be provided. Please bring work gloves if you have them, comfortable outdoor clothing appropriate for the weather, sturdy shoes that might get muddy, and drinking water. Bathrooms are available for use at the Barn.

Located in the Laurel Highlands, Bear Run Nature Reserve offers hiking trails, backcountry campsites and hunting and fishing opportunities.

Bear Run Nature Reserve provides habitat for a diversity of forest-dwelling wildlife, including black bear, fisher, bobcat and more than 53 bird species. More than 500 plant species have been found on the preserve.
