Join us to help keep recently planted trees healthy. Riparian trees improve water quality, stabilize streambanks, reduce pollution runoff and provide cooler water for fish and other wildlife. The goal is to nurture approximately 1,000 tree and shrub seedlings. All tasks are carried out manually to maintain the planted native Pennsylvania trees and shrubs to give them a fighting chance at surviving.

Volunteers of all ages can participate! Tasks range from light to heavy duty. Before planting, you will receive an educational session on the crucial role that trees play in improving water quality and supporting wildlife. Additionally, you will learn about WPC’s efforts to implement sustainable projects aimed at stream rehabilitation. Finally, you’ll see a comprehensive demonstration on proper and safe tree maintenance techniques.

Anticipate spending four to six hours outdoors. Please dress appropriately for weather conditions, taking into consideration the local forecast. Sturdy shoes or boots are essential, and waterproof or water-resistant attire is recommended due to potential wet conditions in riparian areas.

To ensure comfort and safety throughout the day, please pack a lunch and bring an ample supply of water to stay hydrated.
