Website Manager

Headquarters - Pittsburgh Office (Pittsburgh, PA)

The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy (WPC) is seeking a highly motivated, creative professional with experience in website design and management for its Website Manager position. The web manager will support the overall organizational functions, tasks and assignments for managing the Conservancy’s two primary websites, WaterLandLife.org and Fallingwater.org.

The manager will be responsible for website management duties, such as website administration, design, functionality, site optimization, site maintenance, installing website updates and plugins, monitoring performance, troubleshooting, debugging, improving user experience, among other tasks.

Job Duties

  • Oversees the day-to-day maintenance and administration of WPC’s websites, WaterLandLife.org and Fallingwater.org, using the WordPress Content Management System.
  • Manages WordPress platform and uses HTML5, CSS3, PHP and Javascript other web-based code environments to for website development, design and content enhancements.
  • Works with website content using WordPress standard editing tools such as block editors, and post types and plugins that support those editors.
  • Works to explore other website editing and building platforms, such as drag and drop, and other visual editing platforms.
  • Develops website content to support organizational goals, campaigns and strategies.
  • Identifies strategies and goals to improve website user experience.
  • Creates strategies and goals to improve website traffic, audience growth and engagement, and search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Helps manage pay-per-click, backlinking and other forms of search engine optimization campaigns.
  • Creates strategies and goals to improve website navigation structure and functions.
  • Functions as the main WPC staff liaison for the websites with the website hosting company.
  • Adds time-sensitive information and updates as needed.
  • Tracks the effectiveness of the websites through Google Analytics and prepares reports regularly for meetings and staff review.
  • Hosts quarterly meetings on website performance with staff from other departments.
  • Helps support the graphic design and web-based coding projects when and where needed whenever the organization undergoes software changes pertaining to or affecting the websites.
  • Resizes, uses and optimizes videos and photos as content for the websites.
  • Helps to ensure organizational brand styles and standards are maintained for the websites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of science degree in website design, website management, computer science or equivalent degree, or professional experience.
  • Must have at least five years of experience managing public-facing websites for an organization, brand or nonprofit entity.
  • Must have at least five years of experience using the WordPress content management system (CMS) on public-facing websites for an organization, brand or nonprofit entity.
  • Experience with HTML5, CSS, PHP and JavaScript code languages.
  • Experience using WordPress content editors and plugins.
  • Experience using and understanding of WordPress WYSIWYG editors such as Divi, Elementor or TinyMCE.
  • Experience developing the design and visual aspects of websites.
  • Experience developing website functional elements and display features, and ensuring security measures.
  • Experience in and understanding of mobile responsiveness while designing websites for mobile visitors.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have experience working collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment.
  • Must have very good interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with others and adapt to change.
  • Must be highly organized, results-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working on a team within a nonprofit or member-based organization.
  • Prior experience as a full-stack developer with an understanding of both frontend and backend functionality.
  • Experience in photography, videography, drone videography and video editing.
    Prior experience with creating original digital website content and message development.
  • Two years or more of experience with Adobe Creative\Cloud Master Suite, specifically PremierePro, Photoshop and In-Design.

Position Duration

This is a regular, full-time career opportunity with benefits.

Pay

$53,000 – $64,000
