Rain Garden Maintenance Day – Sharpsburg
Location
Sharpsburg
Help keep our Sharpsburg raingarden functioning and looking great! Join us for a rain garden maintenance day, October 2 from 6-8 p.m.
Sharpsburg, a borough along the Allegheny River, is subject to flooding. In 2022, WPC volunteers helped to transform a stretch of vacant land between a baseball field and a basketball court into a rain garden with a goal of controlling 100% of the first 1.5 inches of stormwater runoff. With our staff, they planted six trees, including redbud, serviceberry, river birch and black gum, and 800 perennials, including black-eyed Susans and coneflowers.
Contact Alicia Wehrle at awehrle@paconserve.org or 412-586-2386 to volunteer and for directions to this garden.
