Two-Part Tree Tender Course
Want to know more about the trees in your neighborhood? Want the benefits of healthy trees in your community? Attend a free, two-part course to become a Tree Tender!
Learn about trees in urban or built-up environments – collectively termed the urban forest. The curriculum covers tree biology and benefits, tree identification for beginners, tree planting and tree care, including pruning. Discover how to get involved in efforts to protect and grow your patch of the urban forest.
This two-part training takes place on two consecutive Wednesdays September 9 and 16, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in downtown Pittsburgh (location details will be announced soon). It is led by Tree Pittsburgh and supported by WPC’s Three Rivers Community Forestry initiative, funded by Colcom Foundation.
Attendance is free, and open to all, but registration is required (registration covers both sessions).
The course includes indoor and outdoor instruction (weather permitting). Participants will explore trees and greenspace within easy walking distance.
