Help us improve water quality, stabilize streambanks, reduce pollution runoff and provide cooler water for fish and other wildlife…all by planting trees! We’ll plant a variety of native Pennsylvania bare-root and small potted trees and shrubs by hand in riparian areas, the sensitive area between land and water. The goal is to plant approximately 1,000 tree and shrub seedlings.

Volunteers of all ages can participate! Tasks range from light to heavy duty. Before planting, you will receive an educational session on the crucial role that trees play in improving water quality and supporting wildlife. Additionally, you will learn about WPC’s efforts to implement sustainable projects aimed at stream rehabilitation. Finally, you’ll see a comprehensive demonstration on proper and safe tree planting techniques.

Anticipate spending four to six hours outdoors. Please dress appropriately for weather conditions, taking into consideration the local forecast. Sturdy shoes or boots are essential, and waterproof or water-resistant attire is recommended due to potential wet conditions in riparian areas.

To ensure comfort and safety throughout the day, please pack a lunch and bring an ample supply of water to stay hydrated.
