Volunteer to be a Riparian Steward

Help Care for Riparian Trees

If you enjoy hiking and getting outdoors, consider becoming a volunteer riparian steward. Check on some of the roughly 8,000 riparian trees planted by WPC’s watershed conservation staff and volunteers annually to improve water quality in our region and provide streamside habitat! On your own schedule, you’ll visit a site in one of six counties to ensure the tree tubes, stakes and trees are straight and sturdy, do light weeding and update staff on trees’ health.

Riparian steward volunteers adopt a site, visiting on their own schedule for about one hour monthly. They typically hike approximately one mile to the site.
