Mayor Peduto to Join the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy
at Community Garden Pullout

WHAT: Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto will join the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy as staff members put The Point Community Garden to bed for the winter.

WHEN: 9 a.m., Monday, Oct. 2
Mayor Peduto will attend the event from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.

WHY: To prepare the community gardens for winter, Mayor Bill Peduto and volunteers from the Mayor’s office will join Conservancy staff to pull out The Point Community Garden. A garden pullout is the removal of all annual plants, plastic tarp and other materials from garden beds.

The Point Community Garden was established in 1989 and is part of the Conservancy’s 130 gardens in 20 counties across Western Pennsylvania. Planted each spring, the Conservancy’s community gardens have become a signature feature of our region and are seen more than five million times a day.
